Pull up a chair
We were inspired to create the Dozer Heavy Civil Construction Project Management Course because we struggled to find a practical and detailed construction course for our team. Most available courses focused on general project management theory rather than providing detailed strategies, practical training, and resources for effectively running a heavy civil construction project.
If you’ve ever read a self-help book or heard someone speak on a topic and said to yourself, “Stop giving me the theory; I want to know exactly how you did it, and I can adjust from there,” then this course is for you. Although we will provide you with the background and explain why a particular step or deliverable is necessary, this course offers step-by-step instructions and recommendations on running a project at every phase. The intention is not to provide another generic project management course for certification purposes, but to genuinely teach you how to successfully manage a heavy civil construction project from start to finish!
We want this course to feel like we’ve pulled up a chair beside you, guiding you through each module, explaining the rationale behind each step, and demonstrating strategies and techniques that we’ve successfully used to manage large construction projects. While every company has its own methods, sharing successful strategies can serve as a solid foundation for you to build upon. We’re eager for you to apply the knowledge you gain from this course to your work and see the positive impact on your company and career!

a Letter from The Founder
Within the same month, four project engineers and project managers came to my office separately and asked if they could take a construction project management course to further their careers. I was very supportive of this, but as we looked at what was on the market, we realized there isn’t a course for heavy civil construction project management. Now, there are general project management certifications and even lackluster construction management courses, but none in heavy civil (that we could find). For the courses that were on the market, we felt like they were trying to teach high-level fluff that was rarely applicable to the day-to-day grind of running a construction project. Anyone who has interviewed someone with a title of Project Manager from another industry knows that construction project management is its own field.
After much searching, we couldn’t find what we were looking for…so we decided to create the course ourselves. The Dozer Heavy Civil Construction Project Management Course condenses over 10,000 hours of estimating, managing, designing, and supporting of over $1B worth of heavy civil construction projects into the most in-depth and practical heavy civil project management construction course on the planet!
What really sets this course apart is the Standard Operating Procedures at the end of every lesson, the provided resources, and the AI teaching assistant Dozer Dave. We tell you exactly what we did to successfully run a project down to the day and time. I can’t stand books and courses that only provide declarative knowledge or information for the sake of information. There is a big difference between knowing how to do something theoretically and having someone tell you how they did it step-by-step. Imitate, then iterate!
My Background
Why should you trust that we know what we’re talking about? I am a registered civil engineer in the state of Arizona and have worked in construction management as an intern, project engineer, project manager, estimator, construction manager, vice president of operations, COO, CEO, and founder/owner. Throughout my career, I have estimated, managed, helped design, and supported well over $1 billion of construction projects for some of the largest heavy civil construction companies in the US. I have dedicated well over 10,000 hours to heavy civil construction project controls and am thrilled to share my experience, failures, lessons, and successes with you.
Training and mentoring project engineers and project managers has been, without a doubt, the most satisfying and rewarding part of my career! I sincerely wish I could sit next to you right now and help support you through every aspect of managing your project and developing your career. Though that may not be practical, this course is my way of trying. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or if there is anything I can do to help. I’m genuinely excited for you to implement these lessons and see their positive impact on your career and life!
